The Schnitzler Honeymoon - Sandals Grande St. Lucia - Part 1

The Schnitzler Honeymoon - Sandals Grande St. Lucia - Part 1

So if you are anything like me, before you go on your honeymoon (or any vacation of that matter) you scour the internet for reviews of the resort, packing tips, and plan every little detail for your upcoming trip. Before our honeymoon, I made sure that I got all the advice I could from friends, the internet, and Trip Advisor before deciding on the location. After weeks of going back and forth, we decided to take our honeymoon vacation to the Sandals Grande in St. Lucia!

Since I took care of booking everything, my husband thought I booked us a swim-up honeymoon room, when in reality, I upgraded our room (as my wedding gift to him!) to the Grande Rondoval Suite, which came with our own personal butlers! Keeping this a secret for several months was one of the most difficult things I have ever done, especially from a financial standpoint.

Rondoval Highlights
I created this picture collage to show a few highlights from our amazing "house" It was so spacious, and in the entire "house" was in a circular shape. We had our own private pool, hot tub, and outdoor shower. We also had a large bathtub, king bed, wet bar, sitting area and his and her vanity sinks. It truly was so luxurious and exactly what I pictured my dream honeymoon suite looking like! We spent a fair amount of time by our private pool, and the bath was really nice when we came home from the mud bath excursion! It happened to rain all day and the piping hot bath that was waiting for us was just what we needed! Our villa was just footsteps away from the beach, and even closer to one of the pools. To me, the room was 100% worth the price, even if we didn't have the butler service (which is included in this level of room!).

Butler Service

Our suite included the butler service. I went into this trip with incredibly high expectations, however, to be honest, we left incredibly underwhelmed. Upon our arrival to the airport, we were told we would have a "luxury vehicle" pick us up. The car was a Toyota. It was nice on the inside and our driver was awesome, however not what we were told. Once we got to the resort we were never given the tour of the property, but we were whisked away to our room and had our luggage unpacked for us, which is a little strange but it was so nice to have one less thing to worry about.

We were given a cellphone to reach our butlers. We had dinner reservations made every night we were there, but really, we never had a need for our butlers. We got our own drinks, ordered our own food, and really just didn't feel the need to use the  full service. I'm sure many people might have used them to full capacity, however we spent the majority of our time in the pool or ocean. When returning to our suite to go to bed, we always found a cute towel animal, and usually cookies or snacks waiting for us. We really enjoyed the little "surprises", especially how they left little bottled waters on each of our night stands.
We weren't provided with any departure instructions (all butler level rooms include this as the process is much different). This made the last day rather hectic. We asked the front desk, and they seemed shocked our butlers never provided us with any information. That being said, it was such a small bump in the road considering our week long stay went well without a hitch for the most part! We had a blast, and our butlers were incredibly sweet!

Who Is Candy Coated Christie?

Who is Candy Coated Christie?

My name is Christie Schnitzler, and welcome to my blog! I am a newly wed (as of 8/8/2015!) and University of Alabama grad. I am 25 years old, and a proud mommy to a 7 month old crazy Labrador named Harlow. My husband and I currently live in Georgia. I love to live a balanced life, filled with exercise, healthy eating (in moderation!) and DIY projects. I thought of the name "Candy Coated Christie" due to my lifelong obsession with anything sweet! I hope you enjoy getting to know my family and I!
